This watch dial is a bit of a mystery. I can't find any other examples of this dial or any dial with the brand name Ed. Mathey online. The brand name on the dial is "Ed. Mathey" Ed. Mathey is Edmond Mathey, the founder of the world famous Swiss watch company "Mathey- Tissot". Presumably this dial is from a watch he made before becoming Mathey- Tissot. Believe it or not, I rescued this dial from a mixed media piece of art where someone had used the dial as a ball in their artwork. I purchased the artwork and removed the dial. The artwork was pretty old from the 1980s. I think it might be rose gold. The dial is not painted and it isn't tarnished. The dial was in the artwork for at least 35 years so I think if it was copper it would be very tarnished. That's just my opinion, and I think the value of it being gold is insignificant in comparison to the historical value.
