This painting has been in our family since purchased in the 1950’s it’s a mid century modern textured painting with impasto technique on board by Van Hoople. Circa late 1950s to early 1960s. I can not find another just like it.The stylized family crest is painted in retro hues of burnt orange, olive green, amber, and splashes of turquoise, which is the perfect color palette for a modern space. Signed by the artist on the bottom right. Dimensions: 21.25w x 1.5d x 37.25h (framed). In very good vintage condition. Van Hoople (1934) is a California based artist. He apprenticed for Cecil B. DeMill’s scenic art director, Mr. P.T. Blackburn, at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, CA. Has been under exclusive contract with Hillside Galleries since 1957. Known for his highly textured and impasto techniques. Van Hoople is has become an icon for mid century modern stylized paintings.
