Chinese "Famille Rose" Porcelain Plate set of 4 - 7.25” and one 5.5” plate hand painted “The color palette for famille rose is thought to have been introduced to China by Western Jesuits during the Kangxi reign (1654–1722). The Chinese called these colors yangcai, which means "foreign colors". The technique for painting the designs was perfected during the Qianlong period, when the finest pieces were made. The process involved covering a formed vase with a translucent glaze, firing it, and then painting the design on top. Famille rose porcelain is known in China by other terms, including fencai, ruancai, and falangcai. It's consistently in demand among buyers and collectors, who are drawn to its aesthetic qualities and the search for rare and exquisite pieces.”
